We are a small racing family from Reno, Nevada. It was started in 1978 when brothers, Mark and Ron, started racing mini stocks at the Reno Fairgrounds. In 1982, the brothers switched over the Sprint 100's. We raced on asphalt and dirt tracks all over Nevada and California. The team won several main events, countless heat races, trophy dashes, and track records. The team was always finishing one two. Mark won three championships in a row 1987, 1988, and 1989 at Silver State raceway in Carson City, Nevada. They raced those until 1990.
Seeking a new challenge, the team purchased a full sized 360 sprint car in 1990. They would share driving responsibilities. Mark would win rookie of the year. The team has finished in the top ten in points at Ernie Purcell Speedway in Grass Valley, CA and Twin Cities Speedway since 1990. After Grass Valley closed, Mark took over the driving responsibilities full time.
In 1997, Mark's son, Mark Jr., would be given a sprint car of his own the year he turned 16 years old. Our dear friend John Hanson past away and left his car to Marky. Marky would race the last three races of the 1997 season, win rookie of the year in 1998, and is improving tremendously every race.
This is a family affair for the team. We all have careers outside of racing. But, racing is an important adventure for the Tabor family.
Mission Statement
Our mission for the 2005 season is to race as much as possible! We will be running for points in the California Sprint Car Civil War Series. We will also be racing at Silver Dollar Speedway and Placerville Speedway often. We are also planning on doing business as normal like in 04,We are planning to race some Rebel Cup shows, some Golden State shows, and a possibility of some wingless shows. Most importantly we just want to have fun, be consistent, be competitive, and win races!
